This piece is priced to sell because of a good amount of restored and fully reconditioned pitting from neglect on the outside, but the inside is almost PERFECT! What an amazing piece to use and own. If you are looking for a big high quality skillet AND matching lid without it costing a thousand dollars, this is it! In perfect condition, a #12 Block Skillet and Lid would be upwards of that price, but this huge #12 skillet is different.
It was found it in in an upstate NY estate sale. We stopped by and took a look at what was around, and it was sitting in the back, all alone, because it was VERY beat up. The piece must have been sitting outside in the elements for some time because pitting had set in on the exterior ring and on the lid. HOWEVER, once we opened it and looked inside, the water tight seal between the lid and skillet revealed a COMPLETELY different story inside! We‘ve been doing this long enough to know when we see something that can be beautiful again and this fit the bill.
Look at the pics of the outside of the lid and the outside of the skillet, then look at the inside! It‘s the Phantom of The Iron Opera as half of it saw a hard life and the other half (the interior) was safe and secure. We think it was sealed tight when left in the elements, and therefore while the exterior was susceptible, the inside remained almost perfect. It‘s pieces like these that deserve a home that will take care of it for the next hundred years, or will use it responsibly at the cabin or just for every day. The block logo is an early 1900‘s style from Griswold that came with a matching raised number low dome skillet. It sits perfectly flat and will be a fantastic bacon skillet or fajita skillet with this lid!

I recently purchased a number 8 spider pot. I have been looking for one for several years. I give hearth cooking demonstrations at our local rural heritage museum and needed a spider pot for several dishes. The spider arrived in great shape. The packaging was very good. The condition of this spider was like new. I have since used it and can't be more please.
I have been a Griswold collector for 20 + years. Always looking for a piece to add to my cookware cast iron. I don’t hang my pieces I use them daily. I picked up two pieces of Griswold cast iron specifically for breakfast dishes for myself. Couldn’t be more pleased with the seasoning and quality of the pieces and how accurate the item descriptions were. Not to mention the prices were exceptional for the quality. Take a gamble with EBay or get what you wanted from Cast & Clara Bell.
After going back and forth between a brand new cast iron skillet and a vintage piece, I finally decided on a Wagner from Cast and Clara Bell. I love the skillet. It’s a beautiful piece. It shipped quickly and arrived packed so securely. I absolutely cannot wait to use it daily and have a quality piece I can hand down to my daughter someday. I will definitely be purchasing more.
I’ve bought 5 pieces from Cast and Clarabell and show them off to anyone that will give me the time of day. They are all heirloom pieces that I expect my grandchildren to brag about like I brag about my grandmother’s skillet I have.
I bought a number seven Griswold pan, when I received it, it was well packaged and in great condition.
I gave it an additional two seasonings with grapeseed oil, and this thing is better than a Teflon pan as far as nonstick goes. I have several cast-iron pans, and this one is my favorite. Thanks to the casting Clara team for doing great work. I added a number seven lead that I already had to it.
