Erie Series Versions:Β  1895 - 1905

Griswold produced 6 Series' of Erie brand skillets, each with variations slightly different than the previous.Β  1st Series skillets are identified by a very distinct "scoop" handle, outer heat ring and no product id code.Β  2nd Series skillets have a blended handle, outer heat ring, no product code, but often a unique marker like a flower, American flag, pineapple, bullseye, and letters.Β  Β The 3rd Series is the first to have the 3 digit code you see on the center of the skillet.Β  Β They have an outer heat ring and blended handle.Β  The 4th Series is the "Artistic Series", where only the 5 and 9 were made.Β  Other than that difference they are very similar to the 3rd.Β  The 5th Series is the first of the Inset Heat ring, which is the main defining difference between it and the 3rd Series.Β  The last, the 6th Series, looks just like a 5th Series with the inset ring, but it does not have "'s before and after the Erie name.Β Β
