If you want a skillet that lives in rarified air, this would be one of them. Griswold made Erie skillets are the earliest versions of the brand, made in the VERY early 1900‘s. Early makers made their skillets by hand, and the very first Erie skillets were marked by makers with flowers, shields, and even a nautical anchor. This SHIELD mark is so unique and hard to find, you do not want to miss this. It sits flat and does not spin so perfect for all cook tops. The early skillet patterns often had what are called "sand shifts" or movements in the pattern that created wrinkles or imperfections. These are part of the charm of each handmade piece! This bottom has some sand shifts in the mold that created its own unique look.
