This is a great example of what we find to be very charming about cast iron. There are so many brands that are so well recognized, like Griswold or Wagner or Lodge, and then there are ones that are less easily recognized, like the unmarked or department store lines from the big manufacturers. Then there's one like this: this is an unknown maker wheat stick pan. There were a few versions of this made:
- one with a B
- one with an E
- one without a maker's mark
What's fascinating about this is these were very well made, very well known, and are often found but no one knows where they came from. It was only roughly 75 years ago but for some reason the experts can't agree on who actually made this. What a cool story!
