We have this baby hanging in our kitchen for daily use making everything from breakfast sandwiches to single serve bacon, square eggs and more. What we love so much about restored cast iron, besides its elegance in design, but also being living American history in your kitchen, are the stories behind the pieces themselves. Lansdale PA is near where our family is from, and when we found out there was a skillet with our hometown on it, we jumped at it. A new friend was gracious enough to sell us his and thatβs the one we use. This is the first other that we have come across.
These were made by an unknown foundry in Lansdale PA. Weβve researched them and cannot find anything definitive on the maker in the area. Searching the local historical records strangely yielded nothing. The handle looks like a mix of Griswold Iron Mountain and possibly Foster. The casting is rough, with original scuffed finish on the logo as well as a significant patterns shift that causes a lip thatβs seen in pictures. This one is not seen often and for the casual collector or admirer of unique Americana, this could be the perfect piece for you.
