This is the first white enamel Birmingham Stove and Range skillet we‘ve seen. Randomly coming to us from Maryland, we originally thought it was a modern skillet sitting in a pile. Going through it we saw it was in fact a BSR Red Mountain skillet that we believe was enameled by a third party vendor. The chocolate brown and green skillets are seen every now and then but not often. That‘s where our understanding stops which is once again proof that cast iron is a FASCINATING hobby and craft. So, this is the first that we‘ve seen and we hope it goes to someone that loves a cool story!

BSR produced some of the nicest skillets, dutch ovens and cast iron cookware in the south in the Early to Mid 1900‘s. The Red Mountain Series was one of the earliest to be produced, with the earliest having handmade, hand-scribed marked pieces. This skillet has been carefully washed with soap and water a few times. It has not been stripped as per usual methods because of the enamel. The surface is delicate and should be washed with a soft pad and not an abrasive one. It is ready to use when you receive them! No cracks or damage to be seen and it sits flat so it is ready for any cooking surface.
