IMPORTANT: This piece came to us repaired from a broken hinge. The person that did the repair did an exceptional job and when we finished the piece we gave it a test drive. It made some delicious krumkake cookies. Its priced to sell because of the repair so get yourself an amazing piece for the kitchen and display!
This swedish style Krumkake iron was a popular dessert or snack made with a decorative flair! Similar to italian Pizzelle's they make a light delicious treat. Cover them in powdered sugar, GREAT for holidays and dessert trays!
Griswold made a number of alternate brands along in its 50 year history, which included Alfred Andresen's Minnesota based company. Later called the Western Foundry Co., they made holloware that included waffle irons and pizzelle makers. The base on this iron has been restored with high temperature paint to keep it safe in weather so we did not strip this part. We stripped the iron down to the bare metal and seasoned it with our typical mix. This is a flip style iron so you pour in the batter, cook it on one side, flip it over with a fork or utensil and then cook the other. Safe for the stove top AND the fire pit. A fantastic decorative piece!
DISCLAIMER: We have prepared this piece to be ready to use or displayed in a collection. All pieces are vintage, and therefore are not in perfect condition. Their history of use means small marks and inconsistencies, including residual carbon, which we feel give them a special charm. All items are sold as is, and we have done our best to present them as such. Please review all pictures and ask for further clarification if needed. Thank you! - Cast & Clara Bell
