Restoration quality · ready to cookThis is a wonderful late1800's skillet that we believe may be a Maine or New England pattern style from Ellis Foundry Co. Gate-marking on the bottom of the pan dates the piece prior to 1905 as casting practices improved generally past that point in time. From what we've learned, the double spout and gate-markings were generally produced after 1880, but more knowledgeable experts could pin it closer to the exact date range. It is VERY light and has a shiny finish.
The heat ring is in immaculate condition, as is the original swirling that you see on the surface of the pan. The handle sits comfortably in your hand, which is important when using this piece in your gourmet kitchen. Its raised "8" design on the pointy handle will make for a gorgeous display piece between meals.
NOTE IMPORTANT: The skillet sits flat on its heat ring, but it is bowed in the center. It does not affect cooking, but it is best for gas or electric coil stoves.
DISCLAIMER: We have prepared this piece to be ready to use or displayed in a collection. All pieces are vintage, and therefore are not in perfect condition. Their history of use means small marks and inconsistencies, including residual carbon, which we feel give them a special charm. All items are sold as is, and we have done our best to present them as such. Please review all pictures and ask for further clarification if needed. Thank you! - Cast & Clara Bell
