This late 18th Century Gate Marked long griddle has been restored from over a century of use, and is now back to life in fantastic working condition for you or as a gift for the home chef. It does not sit perfectly flat so take that in consideration when buying. The surface has sand shift marks resulting in a natural patina from its casting, giving it some amazing character!
The handles sit off the surface so they are easier to handle when over two burners. The bottom surface has some pitting from over the years of use which is very typical of these old workhorses. It's often referred to as a fish fry, or sad iron heater, as is indicative of its function, and we've used them for conversation starting center pieces as well! Perfect for cooking bacon, pancakes, or other proteins. It has been stripped using a lye bath and electrolysis, and has been seasoned 3 times with our oil blend. Ready to use!
DISCLAIMER: We have prepared this piece to be ready to use or displayed in a collection. All pieces are vintage, and therefore are not in perfect condition. Their history of use means small marks and inconsistencies, including residual carbon, which we feel give them a special charm. All items are sold as is, and we have done our best to present them as such. Please review all pictures and ask for further clarification if needed. Thank you! - Cast & Clara Bell

Let customers speak for us
from 367 reviewsI have been a Griswold collector for 20 + years. Always looking for a piece to add to my cookware cast iron. I donβt hang my pieces I use them daily. I picked up two pieces of Griswold cast iron specifically for breakfast dishes for myself. Couldnβt be more pleased with the seasoning and quality of the pieces and how accurate the item descriptions were. Not to mention the prices were exceptional for the quality. Take a gamble with EBay or get what you wanted from Cast & Clara Bell.
After going back and forth between a brand new cast iron skillet and a vintage piece, I finally decided on a Wagner from Cast and Clara Bell. I love the skillet. Itβs a beautiful piece. It shipped quickly and arrived packed so securely. I absolutely cannot wait to use it daily and have a quality piece I can hand down to my daughter someday. I will definitely be purchasing more.
Iβve bought 5 pieces from Cast and Clarabell and show them off to anyone that will give me the time of day. They are all heirloom pieces that I expect my grandchildren to brag about like I brag about my grandmotherβs skillet I have.
I bought a number seven Griswold pan, when I received it, it was well packaged and in great condition.
I gave it an additional two seasonings with grapeseed oil, and this thing is better than a Teflon pan as far as nonstick goes. I have several cast-iron pans, and this one is my favorite. Thanks to the casting Clara team for doing great work. I added a number seven lead that I already had to it.
I ordered an absolutely gorgeous Wagner "golf ball" brownie pan and it arrived beautifully restored and very well packaged. Before ordering, I had a question and received a prompt answer. You can't go wrong with the quality of Cast & Clara Bell cast iron and the care and love for vintage cast iron that they clearly demonstrate.
I absolutely love my first vintage cast iron skillet. Phil has been so helpful in answering my MANY questions, and is always happy to help in any way that he can. It's very clear that he takes pride in his work and is also just a kind human being. I look forward to being a lifelong customer of Cast & Clara Bell.
Iβve made two purchases and both were extremely well packed with care. Both purchases were exactly as described and perfectly prepared for use. The Wapak egg skillet is by far my favorite daily user!
Amazing piece of cast iron. Amazing restoration work by the Seller. The pan looks better than it did 120 years ago when it was made!! So impressed by this piece of cookware. My kids will be getting this beauty when my wife and I are dead and gone.
Nicely seasoned cast iron, very good packaging, and a nice note in the box all come together for a great buyer experience!
Absolutely beautiful piece. Restored to perfection. This is my new daily pan, better than my modern lodge! I ordered 3 different pans, and the packaging was perfect. Everything arrived safe and sound. Antique/vintage iron makes all the difference!! It's worth the investment. These pans will forever be a part of my kitchen, never going back to modern pans.
If you're looking into purchasing, look no further and make the switch to these beautiful restored options.
Mint condition vintage cast iron. Every piece is a work of art.
In great condition but with a unique personality!
Great seller! Packed with care and exactly as
described. My new daily egg skillet.
It is very clean and perfectly smooth!
Exactly as I imagined it, the pan I got was 9β but light for cast iron. It had an incredible finish and I can already tell Iβm going to be using it everyday. The restoration job is amazing, it is way nicer than any cast iron pan Iβve seen to date, and I grew up with my family grew up using cast iron. Thank you for the effort it took to get such a smooth finish, Iβm sure it was a lot for how nice this is. What an incredible find!
