Restoration quality · ready to cookWe are based in Pennsylvania, home of some of the most famous foundries in vintage and antique holloware. And there are some that are sought after for a number of reasons, which may include proximity to home, love for the foundries‘ stories, or simply design.
O.P. and Co (Orr and Painter) skillets are sought after for a number of reasons. Made in Reading, PA, they are some of the oldest branded skillets in Pennsylvania, (post Civil War era) and its amazing to us that they have survived over 130 years. Cast iron is easy to break, but definitely is durable, and this pan has made it to you. There were a number of foundries in the area which are famous for cast iron and the O.P and Co (which produced PfizerWare much later through attrition) is one of them. It has slightly deeper walls than a standard skillet, similar to the Erie patterns.
It sits flat and does not spin so it is ready for any cook surface. There are charming casting flaws like sand shifts and some pits that are not damage, but are reflective of the style back then. A beautiful piece to own!
