IMPORTANT: This waffle iron is almost perfect except for some sulfur pitting on the outside of the one paddle. All others are perfect condition. We have discounted this down as a result. The handles have customary wear and tear from its age, showing again some use over a sulfur fire. The natural wood had darkened from use so we restored them with a black paint to match the japanned base. Japanning was a process of painting the bases of some waffle irons. The process created a deep finish. This one was still in very good shape which is rare for these pieces so we kept the base as close to original as possible.
About Hotel Waffle Irons. Wow. They broke the mold when they made this one. Both Wagner and Griswold made a few styles and sizes of these "hotel" waffle irons. They were intended for producing a higher volume of waffles for either customers at a buffet, or just for a hungry family. These are very hard to find these days and they sell quickly. It’s pretty much exactly what I expected.
Not perfectly cut, but a repurposed old number seven Griswold pan turned into a perfect utensil for me to use on my grill.

This pan is fabulous. From the first egg, no sticking at all (as long as you don’t overheat the skillet first!) Near mint condition and beautifully restored. If you are looking for the perfect fried egg, you’ve found your vessel.This is my second griswold from these folks, and I will keep coming back as they do a really terrific job.
