Wow.  They broke the mold (literally) when they made this one.  Both Wagner and Griswold made a few styles and sizes of these "hotel" waffle irons.  They were intended for producing a higher volume of waffles for either customers at a buffet, or just for a hungry family.  These are very hard to find these days and they sell quickly.   You can make six playing card size waffles with both paddles so they are great for family cooking at home!  See our FAQ's on cooking waffles for tips and tricks!

IMPORTANT:  Our customers know that when we say that an item is unique and amazing, that we‘re spot on in the description. We LOVE this one and don‘t want to see it go! This waffle iron is easily a top ten all time item for us.  It is important to note and see on the base that this originally had a "japanned" base.  Japanning was a method of painting that coated the bases of many of the irons of the time.  It was traditionally done in black and had the consistency to handle high heat like powder coating, but is not as durable or permanent.  When we restore these, we do put them in the E-tank as usual because the coating is usually very worn at this point.  They rarely keep their original luster so we strip off the worn coating.  These ALWAYS have residual japanning on them when we are done and because we do not use abrasive methods to clean iron, we leave them as they are when they come out of the seasoning process.  This leaves areas of the residual coating, which you will see in the pictures.  We believe it give a unique character to each iron!
