Oh baby, this one is a special one! If you want a skillet that lives in rarified air, this would be one of them. Often we are asked the challenging question of something like...."which one piece would you HAVE to have if you could only have one" or similar. Well, these Erie skillets are a perfect example. Griswold made Erie skillets are the earliest versions of the brand, made in the late 1890β€˜s. Early makers made their skillets by hand, and the very first Erie skillets were marked by makers with flowers, pineapples, and even a nautical anchor. This #9 skillet has the "A" makers mark which is to the right of the #9 at the six oβ€˜Clock position.Β  We are intrigued by the unmistakable circle in the middle of the piece.Β  This looks very similar to the most sought after pattern, the #8 Erie "Spider".Β  We don't have measurements of the spider so its tough to say definitively.Β  However it sure does look like this pattern had a circle in the center, reminiscent of the spider logo.Β Β
