We are based in Pennsylvania, home of some of the most famous foundries in vintage and antique holloware. And there are some that are sought after for a number of reasons, which may include proximity to home, love for the foundries‘ stories, or simply design. Marietta skillets are sought after for a number of reasons. Made in Marietta, PA, they are some of the oldest branded skillets in Pennsylvania, (post Civil War era) and its amazing to us that they have survived over 130 years. Cast iron is easy to break, but definitely is durable, and this pan has made it to you. There were a number of foundries in the Marietta PA area which are famous for cast iron and this one does not have a foundry designation. This information, we must note, is subject to change as the ever changing history of cast iron skillets comes to light...and we catch up to it!!
IMPORTANT: This #9 skillet handles very well and is hard to find. It sits flat so its perfect for all surfaces! There are charming casting flaws like sand shifts and that are reflective of the style back then. The bottom has roughed areas all around, but the interior surface is glassy smooth! We have restored it and seasoned it three times with our oil blend so it‘s ready for you
