Choosing the Right Skillet Size
Choosing the right skillet size depends on a few factors. If you are starting your cast iron collection, consider starting with a small, a medium and a large skillet to see what works best for you. #3, #5, #8 size skillets are popular, because with a #3 Egg Skillet, #5 Saute Skillet and #8 Classic Skillet, you can cook most things on the stove efficiently. Remember to decide whether you need a flat skillet or not. Gas and Electric Coil stoves can use both flat and non-flat stoves, but glass and induction stoves should use either flat or mostly flat skillets. Our handy skillet chart in the FAQ section also shows visually what to expect in sizes.
