It came to us with lots of carbon buildup on it, like many well used antique waffle irons. Upon cleaning it it was obvious that one of the paddles was left in the elements at one point, or it was married to another cleaner more pristine paddle. We have fully restored it but we call this lovely one "A tale of two paddles", because one has pitting and the other is near pristine.

These do not last long on our page. We get them once or twice a year and that's because they were a special line of waffle irons made by Griswold that feature a thinner waffle that's got a beautiful center star surrounded by hearts. We have one at home and it is the "go to" iron for weekend waffles. Just gorgeous, raised lettering, elegant design and a wonderful piece with which to cook. The short base has leveling pins in the center rather than leveling pins along the outside as some other models had. A special piece indeed!
