The base is a matching base which is perfect for all stove tops. The handles our original and the base had some pitting around the cupping area as it was used over a sulfur wood stove at some point.  We see this fairly often and it doesn't represent anything that will continue since it's been fully restored. It makes delicious waffles and is a centerpiece for your gourmet kitchen.
