{"title":"Wagner \u0026 Sidney Cast Iron","description":"\u003ch2\u003eWagner Foundry 1890's to 1960's\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eThe Wagner Foundry, based in Sidney, OH was one of the largest of the American cast iron companies from the late 1800's to the 1950's.  Brands include Wagner, Sidney, WagnerWare, Best Made and National represented their top of line and department store brands.  Wagner skillets were made in heat ring and smooth bottom versions (see below for history and more details).  Wagner is known for having a good balance of skillet thickness and overall weight.  They are light and easy to cook with!  See our current but ever changing collection available for sale below! \u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003c!--split--\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWagner History and Product Line\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eAfter purchasing Griswold cast iron in the 1940's, the Wagner brand was then purchased by GHC Housewares in the 50's.  Wagner's most popular skillets are both smooth bottom and heat ring versions.  The logo of Wagner cast iron began as a very basic \"Wagner\" logo and developed into the popular WagnerWare stylized logo.  The older heat ring skillets have slightly thinner walls, which are lighter because of the width.  The smooth bottom skillets tend to be a little thicker which gives them more sturdiness in daily use.  They are amazing collector\/daily cookers.  \u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eThe product line from Wagner became very extensive after about the 1920's until they closed their doors.  They made skillets in sizes 2 through 20, dutch oven sizes from 6 through 12, and waffle irons in sizes 8 and 9.   The bakeware collection was extensive, forming molds for french bread, vienna loaves, cornbread, golfball brownies, bundt molds, corn pone pans, and so much more.  There are approximately 30 gem pan styles to collect.  Some are easy to find, others are far more difficult.  You can link to some of our Wagner offerings below!  \u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e","products":[{"product_id":"vintage-grilled-cheese-1930s-wagnerware-9-round-cast-iron-griddle-1109-b","title":"Priced To Sell! Similar to the \"Erie\" skillets of the time, Wagner Ware, made in Sidney Ohio, was known for their amazingly light and smooth cast iron cookware. This #8 skillet is a prime example!  The single arc logo was only manufactured between 1891 and 1905, and has a heat ring for stability, a slightly shallower wall than the stylized Wagners, and is perfect for all around use.  It‘s a beautiful pan to display AND USE in your gourmet kitchen.  Like the early Erie skillets, there are charming sand shifts and surface imperfections that are common from these early pieces.  We feel it adds to the character!  It has been fully restored and has been seasoned three times with our oil blend.
