This one is that way so it does not sit level naturally. \u003cbr\u003eThe flat pointy handle was more common in the early 1800's, prior to when holes were added to handles in more modern patterns. CHF has just about the coolest story we‘ve come across in our education in cast iron cookware.  They were only around for a brief period of time and in the depression era, they were ultimately closed down after a complete loss from a fire, believed to be set by protesting workers on strike.  The name Chicago Hardware would continue on, but the pans made during these years, the diamond pattern logo are the earliest of the series‘. Many of the big names made unmarked CI pieces for department stores, and the hammered finish remains incredibly popular. This particular skillet is called a \"hammered ugly\" pattern from the way it was roughly indented to show the design.  These are unknown in origin but they were made in sizes 3,5,8, dutch oven #8 and a chicken fryer with lid.  Very cool and very mysterious!
